The new version of Mojo, v2.0, allows for up to 3 users to connect to you over the internet. If you wish to exceed this, then this method still applies, but if you’re happy with this limit, you’ll be fine with just the normal version of Mojo. You’re encouraged to buy the full version of the program if you use this feature extensively, so please support the developers if you can.

Bingo! This works over the internet when you use VPN software like Hamachi! Read how to get Mojo for Windows working over the internet HERE!

Mojo allows users to browse, listen and download other’s iTunes songs selectively or collectively, and then whacks them into iTunes automatically, with the click of just one button. And best of all, it’s free! – At least for now.

Currently this software is under Beta development for Windows, but it is being worked on actively and they hope to release it soon. So far, it only works over the LAN, but soon it should work over the internet too.

The one major Flaw in the Windows Beta version, so far (apart from no internet access!) is the lack of the option to specify where your iTunes library XML file and music files are. At the moment, they both have to be in the default “My Music / iTunes” folder. However, if you wish to get Mojo working when your music is stored on an external drive, for instance, you’ll need to be a little more crafty… You’ll need to mount the external drive in place of your “My Music” folder. Read below for how to achieve this.

  1. Make BACKUPS of all your iTunes Library Files (and preferably all files) first!!
  2. By continuing, you agree that even if you screw up your iTunes collection, or burn your house down as a result of this method, you won’t try and screw me over!
  3. Read the first comment for this post if your iTunes library file is not on the same drive as your music files.
  4. Empty your “My Music” folder completely. (This includes and thumbs.db files you may have there, and any other hidden and/or system files.
  5. Click Start –> Run and type “diskmgmt.msc” (without speech marks).
  6. Right click on the external disk conataining your music and click “Change Drive Letter and Paths…”
  7. Click “Add” and browse for your “My Music” folder, then click OK.
  8. Now go into the external drive, move the “iTunes” folder (wherever it is on your drive) to the root of the drive. In doing this you’ll move the “iTunes Music” folder and the various iTunes Library files to a location like this: G:/iTunes/.
  9. Now check in “My Music” that you can see a folder called “iTunes”. You’ll see whatever else was on the hard disk too, but don’t worry, it’s all still accessible from “My Computer” anyway.
  10. Open iTunes holding the Shift button down.
  11. When prompted, choose the iTunes Library.itl file from your “My Music” folder.
  12. In iTunes preferences, check under that Advanced tab that the iTunes Music Folder location is set to the new location, if not, click “Reset” to do this.

  1. If you’ve got the iTunes library file in the default location, but your music folder is on the external hard drive, you’ll need to do this:

    1. Make sure iTunes is closed
    2. Make backups of both your iTunes library files (the XML and ITL files).
    3. Move the originals to a folder called “iTunes” on the external.
    4. Now move your entire music collection from wherever it is on the drive to “X:\iTunes\iTunes Music” (where X is the drive letter).
    5. Continue with the instructions above.
