FAQ: iTunes Visualiser as Screensaver [unsolved]

Is there any way to, rather than running a screensaver after a time of inactivity, instead trigger the iTunes visualizer?

Think about this

  • If there was a run command for opening iTunes with the visualiser, perhaps this would work even when the program was running.
  • It’s easy to make a batch script to run this command line if it exists…
  • Ideally, it wants (at least an option…) to begin fullscreened.
  • This would be especially cool with Magnetosphere visualiser !
  • As far as i know, visualiser control is not in the iTunes COM, so we cannot control it with scripts..?
  • We could simply ask apple to implement this, using this form.

    I have a way to do this. I have downloaded AUTOIT and wrote it to open/ switch to iTunes then switch to visualizer. If any1 knows where i can post my .exe I will gladly post it. The way i install it as a screensaver is just changing the extension to .scr then right-click install. (I on’t know how to uninstall). I also need a god copy of Magnetsphere, mine never worked then it just started working randomly, then not at all, now it works again. When it doesn’t iTunes just exits itself when i start the visualizer.

    I’m not sure what’s going on with Magnetosphere, they’ve removed all download links from their site, and seem to have discontinued it. I’m wondering if it’s been aquired by apple, like CoverFlow was…

    i am terribly sorry. i tried to email you the exe and hotmail said that it wasnt a vaild email address. i am so sorry its taken me so long. i have one error with the program. you can NOT have resume to welcome screen checked. if you do it doesnt work and the screen turns blue. you have to then hold START and L. when you email me please give an email that i can reply to so i can send you my file.
