Ever realise you’ve accidentally unchecked a song somewhere down the line, and wonder how you can easily manage which are checked and which are not?

[Adapted from a tip by LiquidParallax]

Because Apple offers no way to sort by whether a track is ticked or unticked, we need a workaround. It would be nice to have a Playlist of checked songs, and one of unchecked ones. In fact, it is not possible to make one of unchecked songs without first making one of checked songs.

  1. Press Ctrl+Alt+N (or hold shift and click the star in the bottom left corner) to make a smart playlist
  2. Call the first one “Checked Songs” or similar with the follwing settings:
    Ticked Songs
  3. Make a new AutoPlaylist called “Unchecked Songs” by copying this image:
    Unticked Songs

Now you have the two playlists, you can manage your checked and unchecked songs easily.

If you delselect “Live updating” you may find it easier to mass edit the tick boxes without the playlist instantly rebuilding itself.

If your iPod is set to “Only synchronise ticked items” then the end is result is two playlists that show what is and isn’t on your iPod. if the settings sync only checked items to your iPod.
