pulpTunes is a Web server for iTunes, letting you access your music
through the Web. Written in Java, it runs on Windows and Mac, and even
any other platform like Linux, provided you have an iTunes-like XML
library file that points at the path of your music files.

The web interface allows you to:
- Select a playlist
- Browse by genre, artist and album
- Download songs
- Each song has a link, that you can send to a friend to hear it.

Freeware iTunes add-on GimmeSomeTune automatically fetches missing album artwork, lyrics, and automatically embeds them in your music library. The program runs in the background, and in addition to the metadata tools, it also supports scrobbling your music to Last.fm, universal hotkeys, iChat status updates, and even Apple Remote control. Apart from all that, GimmeSomeTune is also an excellent iTunes desktop remote, complete with a fully customizable song notification window.

This is the latest version of ourtunes a software that allows a person to download songs from itunes shares. Released on July the 23rd, it includes some bug fixes and some new features such as added support for midi and wav files. Also it no longer shares port 3689 with itunes in hopes that it will play nicer with itunes on OS X. The developer calls this an, “experimental release” so it probably still has many bugs. Mac OS X only: Shareware application Syncopation keeps your music, podcasts, and video in sync between up to five iTunes libraries. The app finds music that’s in one library but not others, then transfers files between computers until everything matches. Syncopation is smart, too: it automatically replicates changes to a track’s metadata in one library across your others. You can even set up block lists that keep, for example, your thrash metal out of your significant other’s library. Syncopation is $25 for the full version, but you can download a demo version that works with two computers for 30 days—so if you just want to run one quick sync between two libraries, it’s an excellent free solution. Either way, the Mac OS X-only Syncopation is a great tool, though it’d be great to see a completely freeware alternative.

Essentially, Mojo makes sharing music with your friends through iTunes wildly simple, from its simple interface to its brilliant implementation. If you’ve ever used apps like ourTunes to download music from shared libraries, you have an idea of what Mojo does, but you should still prepare to be amazed.

iConcertCal

iConcertCal is a freeware plugin that integrates with iTunes to provide you with an iTunes-embedded calendar of upcoming concerts matching artists from your iTunes library.

iConcertCal installs as a visualizer, so after you install it, just enable it in the View menu. You can then toggle back and forth between your regular view and the calendar with Ctrl/Cmd-T. Change the location to match your own (if necessary) and you’re all set up. iConcertCal searches sites like Pollstar and will update your concert info once a week. The seamless integration and usefulness of this plugin makes one wonder why more players don’t offer this sort of functionality by default. Currently iConcertCal is US only.
